The most practical way to get around during your vacation in Panamá is by renting a car. This option gives you the freedom to explore the country at your own pace: beaches, towns, jungles, and cities are all within your reach.
You can pick up your car at the country's main airports:

Tolls
There are three major highways with tolls in Panama City, Panamá: the Corredor Norte, the Corredor Sur, and the Autopista Panama–Colon. Other avenues and smaller streets are free to use. You do not need to pay to get anywhere in the city if you don’t want to. Please be aware the mid day traffic can compare to I-95 traffic.
Taxi or Uber
The taxi system in Panama City, Panamá differs from the system in other countries. The yellow taxi often are a local form of transportation. Despite what you may here we highly recommend Uber as it is a control and regulated transportation system that is now more commonly used. The best part there is not direct exchange of currency.
One of the standout advantages of utilizing Uber while you’re in Panama is its affordability. Considering how expensive Panama can be, we were pleasantly surprised by how budget-friendly Uber was.
Panamanian Uber has managed to keep its rates reasonable, even in a place like Panama City, where the cost of living sometimes rivalled that of our home country!
– For rides within Panama City, you can expect to pay around $5, depending on your destination.
– If you’re travelling from the International Airport to Panama City, the fare will be around $17.
